Professional Bio
Laura Hernandez completed her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Biology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2014. Her first position after college was in ABA working with children with Autism both in homes and in an early intervention clinic. She was certified as an RBT in 2016. She completed a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from Arizona State University in 2019 and was certified as a BCBA that same year.
Laura has performed a variety of roles at various organizations during her nearly ten years in the field. Her passion is in training both other professionals and stakeholders in the most modern, compassionate, and person focused interventions that are feasible. She has designed, developed, and implemented new hire training programs for various organizations. Finding effective and creative ways to practice behavior analysis is important to her. She has been practicing using telehealth since 2019. She is trained in using Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques to facilitate stakeholder participation in the process of behavior analysis. Laura also uses Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) in her practice. She has delivered multiple CEU events online, and is especially interested in disseminating information about designing graphing systems that meet the individual and unique programing and data analysis needs of each supervisor and their clients. Finally, she has provided targeted training and mentorship to other newly certified BCBAs, as well as supervision for supervisees. Laura is currently the lead behavior analyst at EMG consulting providing Therapeutic Consultation through the ID/DD Waiver. Laura lives with her husband and daughter just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia.
